At the beginning of the month of January, the workshops titled “What is Waste” were held in the kindergartens of Novo Sarajevo Municipality. The objective of these workshops was to introduce children with the possible ways of waste prevention, methods of its reuse and selective disposal. The workshops were organised in six kindergartens: “Mašnica”, “Košuta”, “Zvončić”, “Aprilski cvjetovi”, “Rosica” and “Kekec”. Children happily participated in all planned activities, and were very enthusiastic about protection of environment.
Having in mind the importance of early education and adoption of appropriate habits related to waste disposal and protection of environment in general, similar workshops will also be organised in elementary schools located on the territory of Novo Sarajevo Municipality.
The workshops are being implemented through the project titled „Environmentally Responsible Individual – the Cornerstone of Sustainable Development“, implemented within the UNDP's Project “Reinforcement of Local Democracy IV – LOD IV“, financed by the European Union from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) in the amount of EUR 2 million.
The objective of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the state of environment on the territory of Novo Sarajevo Municipality.
